New tin and 1st bamboo tile pendant

Ok finished my 1st pendant. Grandson Trevin, 3, was trying to help too much so just did one today. I just love these tiles. Also finshed the Altoids tin I started yesterday. Fannie's post gave me my theme about friends. "Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver, the other gold." I have made many friends over the year and I treasure everyone of them, even the ones I have not yet met in person. That just amazes my hubby, lol. The cover is muslin stained with chalk ink, cheese cloth stained with chalk ink, bird sticker, page pebble with word from dictionary, friends rub on and a viola from my yard that I pressed. The purple silk cord around the edge is what was wrapped around my lovely card from KiwiCarole. Inside ismore stained muslion, stamped and embossed with silver lined glass beads, a gold dragonfly bead and swirl, another viola on the orange paper Carole sent with imagine stamped on it and a gold folied butterfly sticker. Around the outside I stitched a single line running stitch. I am disappointed with the scan, The orange didn't show up very bright.

OMG!!!! This tin is stunning!! And so are the others! Very inspirational, I just love it, and the fact that you added pieces that I sent you as well! What kind of glue did you use? And do you paint the insides before you glue anything in? I'll have to pick your brains now if I need to know how to do things! Thanks for sharing and for the inspiration!
hugs, Carole

Carole. The first thing to do is lightly sand trhe whole tin to give it roughness for your paint to stick. I then paint it lightly with gesso. This covers the words and makes the surface take color better. I ripped my fabric as I wanted it to look aged kind of. I used Golden gel medium(I have to get more of that stuff, LOVE IT) for the glue. I put it on the back of the fabric and stuck it down. I do any stitching before putting it on. I use E6000 to glue the page pebble on, gel medium for the definition behind the pebble. That's the first one of those i did and I really like how it turned out so will be doing more of those. Gel medium for the flowers and silk cord. Let it dry and don't touch it until, lol. I had the flowers come off on my fingers so many times. I am so impatient sometimes. I stitched around the words I printed onto velum paper with some really cool shiny thread I got but it doesn't show well in the scan. I thought of lots of things to add AFTER I had the fabric glued down but was too lazy to pull it up and redo everything, lol. If you have any other questions feel free to pick any brains I have left, lol. I'm glad you like my tins. They are good therapy.I am a tin freak. I collect larger ones and use them to hold everything from buttons to food. Still have the tin Mom used to keep her buttons in. I loved playing with her buttons and sorting through them. My grandkids like to do that too. Have a great day. Hugz, Scary

Thanks Melinda. I am best friends with my seam rippers, lol. I am really starting to get addicted to those tins. My daughter in Corvallis just told me she got me a bunch more. Evidently someone out there is addicted to Altoids, lol. I have another done and starting too more, lol. They are having a craft fair this summer on the street here, woohoo big time for us(town is about 500 people maybe, but it's the county seat)and I am hoping to have enough done for the fair but I like giving them away so will have to see how many I can keep by then, lol. Got the grandkids finally asleep on the couches so I can get on herre for a little while before bed. If I don't look at the clock, jeesh loiuse. after 2 already? Damn, lol. Maybe not. Hugz, Scary
